I have blocked 50 rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn in Ronkonkoma (really i just like the town name ;) ...say it real fast, you'll get it too...
I dont have to leave any kind of deposit or anything. Any rooms remaining on july 16th will be released to the public... only I would flat out ask the sales woman on the phone "dont you loose money doing this, whats the catch" but apparently hotels feel one month is ample time to get rooms booked.

next, onto cutting the guest list... watch out you could be next
