hello from NY!

posting for all you avid blog readers...(SR :) )

We are still in NY and having a great time! The grad party went really well. The actual graduation was nice. no real long boring speaches and i actually saw one of my old fav teachers whos now an assis. principal. Party was soo fun. we even had a velcro wall... dont worry ill have LOTS of pics to post but none now.

Ok, now on to the good stuff...

We made it to LI on sunday night. Had a few storms and now its GEORGOUS!! just witnessed a beautiful, perfect red and pink sunset (pictures to follow).

Monday morning we started our RH (reception hall) search with Danfords in PJ (port jefferson for all non-longislanders reading) While we really liked the hotel aspect and the convenience of the place. There is NO WAY this place will work for our wedding. It is realllly small and tables, etc are set into multiple rooms. really just too small. nice and quaint for other parties... i would recommend it.

Later, we picked up mom and headed out to babylon to see the venetian yacht club. While the enterence is impressive and the rooms are grand. The water is nice and the bridge in the background is a nice touch. there was nothing more to look at then water and the pictures would be IMO boring and the same. The other thing that turned me off was the people. WOW had thier attitudes and mannor really turn you off. Not a fan. Anyways. I also had a problem with the fact that they dont do the ceremony on site if we have a night time wedding. afternoon only due to the timing of other weddings also on the same day. The min. was a rediculous number and the price NOT worth it. not overerly impressive IMO.

SInce we were in the area i called CLM (chateau La Mer) to see if we could stop by 2 days early and they guy on the phone was insanly nice and said of coarse. I LOVED IT! love the poeple and the enterence and the view and the rooms... both inside and out which is important incase it rains. also loved the inclusions and the food choices and the extras and the attention and of coarse the price is pretty important. WORTH EVERY PENNY. i have a feeling this will be "the place" just like the min. i met my fience i knew it as soon as i saw it. it was love at first site. Brought dad and sister 4 there today and we all agree i think its a winner and if thats the case... we have a DATE!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhh.....

ok ok... August 15th, 2009!!! YAY!! not def. yet so dont go spreading the word. ill let ya know!

ill keep talking though about the others we've seen so far.

Yesterday brought sister 4 and fience to glen cove mansion in the AM. Hated it as soon as we walked in and she started talking... NO NO and NO. and then the price. NO again! no way. Not for me. didnt like any of it. ok moving on...

later we went to the crescent beach club and if you remember was the favorite from pictures and the internet. Was NOT impressed. I think the people mostly turned me off... we are trying to get a Shit load of money from me you could at least TRY to impress me... nope. We couldnt even find someone to talk to! UGH! i was in LOVE with the beach and the outside deck and Cocktail hour but that was all i was impressed with. and if it rained its A LOT, like a rediculous LOT of money down the toilet IMO! Its a second choice but...not a close second.

Today, we went back to CLM like i said. and then I THOUGHT had an appt. at 5 at Lands end but screwed that up and missed the appt. so we looked around the outside and liked it a lot so i made a make up appt. for tomm. morning so ill let ya know how that goes...

for now we have a penciled in place and date so we'll see.. i could soon be well on my way to planning the wedding of the year!!! hehe...
