ceremony

While i try and get my scanner to work to show you our engagement pictures i thought id share some ideas ive been playing around with regarding the ceremony and wording. Scott and I have decided to have a None religious ceremony. I grew up with a mix of religions both cathlioc and jewish and he is protostant. Not that any of these are too different from another but we all have our own beliefs and keeping it "US" is more our style. I am hoping to find an officiant that will allow us... ok me... hehe. to help write the ceremony. We both agree on keeping some of the tradtional wedding stuff such as the "I do" exchanging of the rings and all the tradtional wording to go along with it. But i really want to make the ceremony personalized, origional, creative and memorable.

here are some of the things we are thinking..

Mothers Rose Presentation
Marriage is a coming together of two lives and a celebration of the love of two people. But it is more. The love that ______ and ______ feel for one another is the flowering of a seed their parents planted in their hearts years ago. As they embrace one another in their love, so do they embrace the families which have been brought together on this happy occasion. As a sign of their love for their families, ______ and ______ would like to offer these symbols of eternal love, these roses, to their mothers, ______ and ______.

______ and ______ want you to know that your efforts were not in vain and that your love is very much appreciated, they thank you for everything you’ve instilled in them. These Roses are a promise that no matter how far apart you are that you are not forgotten and a reminder that you are always in their hearts and prayers.

We will also do the sand ceremony.

We have decided NOT to write our own vows (tooo much pressure) but instead will read a favorite book to each other.. here it is:

(Reading)
Pamela and Scott have chosen to share with you a reading from “I Like You” by Sandol Stoddard Warburg.

Pam: I like you and I know why. I like you because you are a good person to like.I like you because when I tell you something special, you know it's special And you remember it a long, long time. You say, Remember when you told me something special And both of us remember

Scott: When I think something is important you think it's important too We have good ideas When I say something funny, you laugh I think I'm funny and you think I'm funny too Hah-hah!

Pam: HOORAY! That's because you really like me You really like me, don't you And I really like you back And you like me back and I like you back And that's the way we keep on going every day

Scott: I like you because I don't know why but Everything that happens is nicer with you

Pam: I like you because because because I forget why I like you but I do So many reasons

Scott: On the 4th of July I like you because it's the 4th of July On the fifth of July, I like you too If you and I had some drums and some horns and some horsesIf we had some hats and some flags and some fire engines

Pam: We could be a HOLIDAY

Scott: We could be a CELEBRATION

Pam: We could be a WHOLE PARADE See what I mean?

Scott: Even if it was the 999th of July

Pam: Even if it was no place in particular in January

Scott: I would go on choosing you And you would go on choosing me

Pam: Over and over again That's how it would happen every time

Scott: I don't know why I guess I don't know why I really like you Why do I like you I guess I just like you

Pam: I guess I just like you because I like you.
